Play Sugar RushHow the Alberta market works
According to AGLC, from 13 July 2026 operators can run legally registered iGaming platforms in Alberta. Every operator must be registered with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC), which handles regulatory oversight, and sign a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), which handles commercial agreements, anti-money laundering, financials and reporting. Before the launch, PlayAlberta was the only legal online casino in the province.
How to check that a casino is legal
- Search the operator in the AGLC registrants list (class “iGaming – Operator”).
- Look for the AiGC logo on the site and in its advertising.
- Check that the site shows responsible-gambling information, including 211 Alberta.
Rules that matter for players
- Age: 18+.
- Self-exclusion: AGLC's centralized Self-Exclusion Program is a required integration for every operator, so one exclusion covers the regulated market.
- Advertising: no athletes or people who appeal to minors, except to promote responsible-gambling features.
- Game lobbies: not every operator carries every Pragmatic Play title or enables the bonus buy — check the lobby.
